The Malawi government has denied self-acclaimed Prophet Shepherd Bushiri access to Bingu National Stadium.

The embattled clergyman was due to hold crossover night prayers at the facility on 31st December. In an opposing development, the government has said the structure will be going through mantainance hence it will not be available for any activity.

According to a recent communication from the government, the maintainance process will be conducted in readiness for the CAF inspection team which will be in the country early January.

“The stadium will be undergoing maintainance in preparation for CAF inspection which will happen in early January 2021,” reads part of the communique.

The communication further stresses that the event is likely to attract a mamoth crowd which will contranvene Covid-19 preventive measures.

“Despite communication that the number to attend be reduced, the event is most likely to attract people beyond even the normal capacity of the stadium. This will contranvene Covid-19 pandemic preventive measures.”

This means the Prophet will have to hunt for another venue. His event is among one of the most anticipated to mark the end of 2020.
