Bishop Tambala appointed as Archbishop for Lilongwe Archdiocese

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop George Desmond Tambala as Archbishop for Lilongwe Archdiocese replacing the late Archbishop Tarcizio Gervazio Ziyaye who had passed on in December last year.

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi has announced the appointment today, Friday. Tambala has been bishop for Zomba Diocese until his appointment from the Vatican.

The Secretary General for the Episcopal, Reverend Father Dr. Henry Saindi said Reverend Tambala will continue exercising the pastoral office of the Archdiocese of the Apostolic administrator of Zomba diocese until he takes canonical possession of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
