Activist sets up writing competition

Youth rights activist and social media influencer Pemphero Mphande has come up with a writing competition in an effort to promote reading culture in Malawi.

The competition is worth K400,000. The money will be shared among three lucky winners. According to the arrangement, the winner will pocket K200, 000, the runner up will take home K150, 000, and the second runner up will get K50, 000.

To participate in the competition, writers are supposed to submit short stories of not more than 2,000 words.

Mphande has encouraged all Malawians to join the competition.

Pemphero became a household name in Malawi in February when he started sharing love stories about different people on his Facebook page.
