The Malawi police service has began enforcing mandatory wearing of masks in an effort to prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus.

National police headquarters spokesperson James Kadazera has confirmed the development to the local media. This comes a few days after rumours were circulating on social media, on the subject.

However in Blantyre City business is being conducted as usual. Some people are running up and down without face masks. Some police officers are also discharging duties without masks.

Mandatory wearing of masks is one of the serious covid-19 restrictions in the wake of proliferating cases. This has drawn mixed reactions from the public.

Other people believe  that the government is being unrealistic for imposing something they were against when they were in opposition. While others are defending.
