Flames midfielder Taonga Chimodzi has signed for Lilongwe based Super League outfit Silver Strikers from Cyprus side Omonia Aradippou, Low Profile Malawi has established.
According to Silver Strikers, the veteran midfielder has penned a 2 year contract following expiry of his commitment with the Europe based Club.
Chief executive officer for Silver Thokozani Chimbali has described the move as a satisfactory one owing to the player`s experience.
“We expect a lot from Taonga Chimodzi both on and off the pitch we expect him to showcase his expertise, experience and leadership qualities suffice to say this is a good addition to our team.”
Taonga who is son to Flames legend Young Chimodzi, is one of the three experienced players who have returned to the club. Others are, Frank Banda and Godfrey Banda.
Chimodzi returns to the bankers 10 years after leaving the club for South African club Santos. Other clubs he has played for after leaving Silver are Iraklis Pschanon and Plkatinias (Greece) and Zakakiou Parti, Lysi, and karmiotissa from Cyprus.
