One of Malawi’s top billed annual summer events Sand Music Festival sprang into action normally last weekend amidst Covid-19 scare.

The event run from 30th October to 1st November at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima district. Low Profile Malawi can confirm that social distancing was not observed despite the whole world following preventive measures to curb further spread of the pandemic.

President Lazarus Chakwera has been strict on observing the preventive measures. On the contrary, his advisor on art Lucius Banda threw the event which ignored measures which he imposes on Malawians.

The event attracted a top artist from Tanzania, where they don’t believe the pandemic exists, in the name of Diamond Platinumz and Master KG from Africa’s Corona Virus hotspot South Africa.

The event attracted a mammoth crowd from all walks of life. People braved the heavy rains to have fun in the Lakeshore district.

On a sad note, local sports is returning in the country later this month in absence of fans, a development which has raised concern from Malawians. People believe the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 is biased.
