Malawi national football team head of technical panel Marian Mario Marinica has blasted critics of his charges for having too much expectations.
Speaking to a local newspaper, the Romanian mentor said too much expectations are hampering the development of football in the country.
His charges are facing criticism for losing their opening game against Guinea at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroun.
The Flames lost by a goal to nil, in a game which a number of key players including talisman Gabadinho Mhango missed having tested positive for Covid-19.
Prior to the tournament, Mario is on record to have told the press that Malawians should not expect results owing to the gradual process of adapting to his philosophy.
During the team`s preparations in Saudi Arabia, the head of technical panel stressed that his charges are slowly adapting to his preferred style of play.
Malawi`s next games at the tournament are against Zimbabwe and Senegal respectively.
