Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia has said the free water connection introduced by government will only benefit those applying for domestic use.
Mia addressed the media in Lilongwe this afternoon , said each applicant will be entitled to one free connection per year. She also said the free connection will cover a maximum distance of 24 meters and applicants whose installations are beyond that, shall be expected to cover the additional installation costs.
As part of the qualifying criteria, all applicants will be expected to produce national identification cards as well as proof of land ownership to have their applications processed.
